Physical and Chemical Properties
Potassium iodate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KIO3. It is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water and dilute sulfuric acid, soluble in potassium iodide solution, and insoluble in ethanol and liquid ammonia.
Application
- As a livestock feed additive, it is used in animal feed to regulate iodine deficiency.
- Analytical reagent, also used as complexing agent, masking agent, bacterial inhibitor, etc.
- It is used as a wheat flour treatment agent, dough conditioner, and salt iodization agent.
Storage
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The temperature in the warehouse should not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. Avoid exposure to light. Packaging should be sealed. It should be stored separately from reducing agents, active metal powders, organic metal compounds, etc., and must not be stored together.
