Physical and Chemical Properties
When hydrolyzed in a strong acid or strong alkali aqueous solution, the amino group is gradually replaced by the hydroxyl group, which is formed into melamine diamide (“C3N3N3(OH)(NH2)2”) [8], which is further hydrolyzed to produce melanate niamide (“C3N3(OH)2NH2”) [9], and finally melic acid is produced.
Application:
a.Melamine can be combined with formaldehyde and other agents to produce melamine resins. Such resins are characteristically durable thermosetting plastic used in high pressure decorative laminates such as Formica, melamine dinnerware including cooking utensils, plates, plastic products,laminate flooring, and dry erase boards.
b.Melamine foam is used as insulation, soundproofing material and in polymeric cleaning products, such as Magic Eraser.
Storage
Precautions for operation: Closed operation, comprehensive exhaust. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical safety goggles, anti toxic work clothes, and rubber gloves. Avoid generating dust. Avoid contact with oxidants and acids. Handle with care during transportation to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with emergency response equipment for leaks. Empty containers may contain residual harmful substances.
Storage precautions: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sources of fire and heat. It should be stored separately from oxidants and acids, and avoid mixing storage. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaked materials.
