Physical and Chemical Properties
The chemical formula of barium metaborate is Ba(BO₂)₂, with a molecular weight of 222.95. It is a white orthorhombic powder, with a density of 3.25-3.35 and a melting point of 1060°C. It is slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in hydrochloric acid, and has properties of rust prevention, anti-pulverization, high temperature resistance, fire resistance, and mildew resistance.
Application
1.Used as a primer and topcoat in the coatings industry, it is a new type of anti-rust pigment and is also used in industries such as ceramics, paper, rubber, and plastics.
2. Used as an additive flame retardant.
